Elefant® heavy duty gratings are used in areas with heavy traffic, e.g. cars, lorries, trucks etc. The height and metal thickness of the bars determine the tolerance loads of the vehicle gratings. The heavy duty gratings are very strong relative to their construction. If high anti-slip qualities are required, the bars may be serrated in one or both directions.
elefant® heavy duty gratings are pressure welded type SP gratings with full height bearing bars in the bearing direction and filler and control bars of variable height at right angles to the bearing bars. Vehicle gratings are supplied with welded edge iron on all four sides. Dimension: The elefant® haevy duty grating is available in a number of standard sizes from 200x1000 to 500x1000 mm but may also be custom-made. Mesh sizes: The heavy duty grating is carried in the following mesh sizes: 30x30 mm & 40x20 mm. If a different mesh size is required, the grating must be custom-made. Serrating: If very high anti-slip qualities are required, the grating may be supplied with serrated bearing bars or with serrated bearing, filler and control bars. Cutouts: elefant® heavy duty gratings may be supplied with cutouts or may, as a result of the pressure welding, be cut to measure on site. Frame parts: The heavy duty gratings should be placed in frames for embedment in the concrete in case of high loads. Follow the link “Frame parts” for further information about frame parts. Material: The heavy duty gratings are supplied in steel S235JRG2 (steel 37-2) as standard but can also be manufactured in stainless 1.4301 & 1.4404 at request. Surface treatment: The standard surface treatment of the gratings is hot-dip galvanising in accordance with DS/EN ISO 1461 1999 but they may be delivered with other surface treatments, e.g. pickled or electro-polished in stainless steel.
